Goals for 2010
What are our goals for 2010 and beyond?April 21, 2010 Ryan Vending Reduction goals for 2010 are as follows:
Who supports our Carbon Neutral positionClimate Smart:Climate Smart Businesses Inc. is a Vancouver, British Columbia-based social enterprise that was launched by Ecotrust Canada, an enterprising nonprofit whose purpose is to build the conservation economy. Climate Smart grew out of the recognition that the engines of our local economies – small and medium-sized enterprises – have been largely overlooked in the development of policies and tools to address climate change. We believe that this creative and innovative sector can play an important role in finding ways to do business differently and to help move us toward a prosperous, low carbon future. SmallFeet Consulting:Small Feet Incorporated was created through the integration of leading-edge business and sustainability strategies. Through the collaboration of its founders, the company has been successful in adopting The Greenhouse Gas Protocol, co-developed through multistakeholder engagement with the WBCSD and the WRI. This is the most recognized greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and reporting standard used today. Its mission is To provide GHG inventories and GHG reduction strategies by assisting any organization to develop innovative, legitimate, and viable solutions for a sustainable future. Pacific Carbon Trust:Pacific Carbon Trust offers credible offsets. By doing so, it is working towards a cleaner environment and a vibrant low-carbon economy. PCT states that there is a need to act on many fronts to address climate change. It offers an important part of the solution. PCT is a Crown corporation of the Government of BC, created to deliver quality made-in-BC greenhouse gas offsets to help clients reduce their carbon footprint and drive the growth of BC’s low-carbon economy. Together with its partners and clients, it are creating a cleaner environment and a modern B.C. economy. As a Crown agency registered under the Business Corporations Act, PCT is owned by the Province of British Columbia and report to its shareholder – the Minister of Finance. It operates under a Shareholder’s Letter of Expectations that outlines the corporation’s and the shareholder’s responsibilities and is jointly signed by the Minister of Finance and the Chair of PCT. What our suppliers are doing:Many of Ryan Vending’s suppliers are doing their part to reduce their green house gas emissions (GHG). Here are a few great examples: Coke: The goal at Coca-Cola Canada is to be the most respected company in the country. It has integrated corporate social responsibility (CSR) into the company’s core strategies and processes. At the heart of the company’s CSR initiatives is a sense of responsibility for its actions. For Coke CSR is about the world and its role in it, and its objective is as simple as it is daunting: Coke will be a recognized leader in Corporate Social Responsibility. Its aim to be a responsible global citizen – a leader that makes a difference. It is building its corporate reputation based on three pillars. These pillars are the Environment, Healthy Active Living and Community. Pepsico: PepsiCo’s Environmental Policy applies to all our operations. PepsiCo monitors company-owned operations and joint ventures where we hold a majority share. We encourage our suppliers, service providers, bottlers and other partners to adhere to the policy. |
